Default selling items when quitting?

just been curious as to why ppl post "quitting gw sale" or something of the sort. i know some take long extended breaks and might want to hold on to their collections but if someone was really quitting why bother selling items? idk why this question popped in my head but just wanted to see if someone could clarify for me. ty

I can think of two possibilities:

1. They really are quitting GW and simply want to see how much wealth they've accumulated (in ectos/plat/gold) while playing.

2. They're not really quitting GW and are only using that line as a ruse to get buyers who think they'll be getting a good deal on whatever the seller is selling.

Or they are going to give away all the ectos and gold to a friend who doesn't want his items only the gold/ectos.

Or they will sell the ectos for rlm.

I guess Kook has it, I too cannot understand why, if you are quitting you would sell-up. Having said that I benefited by winning 2 tormented weaps from someone who sold up and the bought high end stuff for a guru lottery.

I would like to caution people though - I have been given amny things by people whio are leaving the game and most of them come back (they usually get their stuff back from me - but those tormented weaps have already been given away) so i would keep it - you never know when the longing for GW will strike again!

yep, has always made me wonder, but each person has his or her own reasons for why they do things....whether it is to see how much they actually accumulated over the years, selling to give friends cash, or just a scam--who really knows?
I know if I were to quit--I would just slowing slink away from the game...and not waste my time selling all my stuff.

Alot of people sell all there stuff so they can then sell the ecto for rl money (yeh this is bannable but it happens alot). If your properly quitting you dont care about a ban if your making say $500.

This. Some of those people accumulated 2,500-3,000 ecto's. Some even more... At like $40 I think per stack that's a lot...

Another possibility would be to liquidate your assets so that if you return later you can start buying whatever the newest/coolest stuff is.

It's gonna be really funny if the IPs banned in GW1 are gonna be on a special watch list in GW2. Just thinking out loud.

Every time someone sells or buys from RL gold sellers, they're basically financing the people who break in and steal GW accounts, bot and so on. But if they're quitting I guess they don't care about that. :/

People like simplicity, not just to farm gold for RL money. I think many people want to get the platinum they can why things are worth platinum and fill a few storage's up.
